What To Look for In a Direct Sales, MLM and Network Marketing Company

If you’ve been thinking about getting into the MLM and Network Marketing and direct sales world, one of the most competitive areas of business that there are, you’re going to need to pay close attention to the 14 keys to success, that I’ve broken down below.

If you ignore these essentials, these “make or break” factors, you run the risk of ending up like literally millions and millions of folks all over the world – broke, confused, and not sure how to right the ship.

Pay attention to these keys, and you’ll be able to boost your chances of success dramatically.

Sure, you might not be able to guarantee a million dollar a year passive income cashing in on the MLM and Network Marketing and direct sales train, but you’ll have a better chance at securing your financial future than if you hadn’t focused on these areas.

The choice is yours, and yours alone.

The reason that I’ve picked these 14 essentials is because they really represent the most important areas of focus for MLM and Network Marketing and direct sales.

I will cover how to become a powerful and smart leader, how to hire the right people to take you further than you’d ever have gone alone, how to leverage EVERYTHING you come in contact with to boost your success (and your income) almost overnight – and so much more – all without requiring you to have any extra expertise or experience.

This is game changing stuff we’re talking about here.

You’d have to be at least a little bit crazy to ignore it.

There may not be a better chance to go from zero to hero, broke to hundreds of thousands (or even millions) of dollars – often in passive or semi-passive – in income than the world of MLM and direct sales.

Take this chance and really run with it!

1) CEO

CEO has 10 years or more of successful, ethical MLM experience, with a proven track record of running a Billion Dollar MLM.

2) Distributor Bill of Rights

Company has a formal and legal contract granting distributor rights, equality, and money security.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE: Right now, 99% of all MLM distributors are building their MLM businesses on quicksand. Without a legal bill of Distributor Rights in place, the MLM company can make detrimental comp plan changes, inferior product formulations, or terminate a distributor for any reason.

Without a legal agreement, MLM Distributors are at the complete mercy of their MLM company.

Would you ever enter into a business arrangement that allowed your business partner to change the rules on a whim? Of course not, why do it in MLM?

3) Ethics

Executive Officers have ZERO instances of unethical or illegal practices.

EXAMPLES: unethical terminations, special deals, any changes that take money out of the hands of the distributors and put it into the company, etc.

4) Company has proven pioneer phase

Company has shown:

•  Wise money management

•  Sustained growth

•  Smart decision making

•  Lasting product results

•  Ethics

5) Company is entering “Hockey Stick” Growth

Company has progressed past the pioneer phase and has:

•  Money to finance billion dollar growth

•  Cooperative corporate team

•  Outstanding customer support

•  Respected MLM leaders have that have joined

•  An exciting, thriving, FUN culture

6) Billion Dollar Plan

Company has a clear vision and strategic plan for Billion Dollar growth.

7) Out of the box thinkers

Company allows their leaders to create approved internet marketing systems, and use online tactics freely to promote both the products and opportunity.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE: Right now, 99% of all MLM companies only supply their distributors with replicated websites that don’t result in success. They do not allow their distributors the creative liberty to do their own online marketing.

8) Global

Company is in at least 8 countries, including the 3 largest worldwide MLM markets – China, Japan and USA.

They also have aggressive expansion plans.

9) Products

Company has advanced and ETHICAL services or consumable products, that are available at a fair market price and provide REAL results within 5-7 days.

For (Product Companies) product consumption is safe and effective for all ages.

10) Branding

Company has 3+ product segments that are BRANDED separately, avoiding the “PIGEON HOLE SYNDROME” of being labeled as a “Coffee Company”, “Juice Company”, “Essential Oil Company”.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE: Many MLM’s will change the company name to become sexier and generate more interest. This only causes confusion in the marketplace and never works.

11) Autoship

Company has a HIGH RETENTION monthly autoship program at around $120 to $150, with 10%-20% of the customer/distributor base ordering more than is required monthly.

12) Price of entry

Top Tier Packages for MLM Start-up are $1,000 – $4,000.

13) Compensation

Binary compensation plan, with a heavy emphasis on

14) ROI

Company has a clear and EASY plan on how a distributor can get their initial investment back, ASAP, with no more than 5 enrollments.

These are very interesting facts about an MLM and Direct Marketing. Although I’m not interested in this part of business, there are many people who are, and I will be happy to “share” this information for you.

  6. You’ve shared some valuable info, Nate. I’m so glad I’ve found my business(es) and can concentrate on that…no more looking! 😉

Perfectly valid and important points. It’s sooooooooo easy (hand waggling) to get caught up in the powerful presentations and claims and broohaha so many companies use. And it’s up to us, as consumers and BizOwners, to use a list like yours to make sure we’re not living in a fantasy land.

    Way to take it on!

    Laugh lots, Love more!

You have listed very important requirements for a MLM, network marketing company. I have been with my company since 1984, yes, that’s 30 years. My company is debt free and been in business since 1958. My company is at the top and at the leading edge of nutrition companies… in most cases several years ahead of the general market in research, development and production. Very, very stable. No fly by night products. Top integrity. Thanks for a good supporting article.

  9. Great post and I totally agree with every single point. I’ve dabbled in networking marketing for over 20 years participating with various companies whose products I received great benefit from. Unless a person has participated with more than one MLM company, they are probably completely unaware of what happens in these various companies over time. Some of the biggest networks I was able to create were within companies that eventually folded. Sadly, I learned how important some of your ponits are the hard way. Thanks for the great info.

    Hey Nate,

Really enjoyed this post, I tend to agree with all your points. I particularly like point 13 about the binary comp plan with matching bonuses. This kind of plan is very fair for all members involved and gives the network marketer the best chance of growing a substantial residual income.

Point 2 “distributor bill of rights” is so important. I was once involved with a network marketing company that made some major changes to the comp plan and basically pulled the carpet from under our feet. From that point on it became extremely difficult to build a good income, and the company made a whole lot more money. Well, I learned a hard lesson there; almost give up on the industry altogether; had to start all over again.

Thanks for sharing this info; I’m sure many will be more the wiser for it.
