Key Components of Forming A Positive Mindset To Change Your Life

We as humans are prone to dream and to materialize the dream we have the ability to practice freewill. However, the social conditions, the economy, jobs, bills and so on, all make it difficult to practice freewill and we have to stay within our constraints and never express things the way we want to express them. This is where the power of our mind and its way of thinking comes in.

Our mind is the key component that can make all the adversity look as a challenge and all the joy a wave of sadness, therefore, it is imperative that the mindset you have towards life is positive. When you have a positive mindset, you will be able to face adverse situations and make the most out of it. In the lines below I shall discuss with you the factors required for forming a positive mindset to change your life.

Key Components of Forming A Positive Mindset To Change Your Life

Believe In Yourself

All those who believe in themselves are the ones who climb up the ladder of success and changed the way people thought about them. Most successful entrepreneurs advocate the fact that the process of formation of a positive mindset starts with believing in oneself. If you don’t believe in yourself, then you would never think well about life or yourself, and if you don’t feel good about anything ultimately you won’t get anything good. Therefore, for forming a positive mindset to change your life, you need to believe in yourself.

Commit To Developing your Mindset

Once you have resolved that you are going to develop a positive mindset, then the next thing you need to do is to commit to your mind and not feed negative thoughts to it. This commitment is easier said than done, however, it is also a fact that if you keep on feeding negative thoughts that pollute the mind instead of feeding healthy thoughts to it, then the brain will start forming a gloomy picture about everything. Therefore, whenever in a dilemma, start feeding positive things to your mind, and it will respond by focusing on the silver lining.

Be Grateful

I am aware of the fact that the economy is going through challenging times, people can be deceitful, and there is no stability in life, however, I still recommend being grateful for whatever little you have, as it is what nourishes a positive mindset. If you don’t own a house, then don’t fret about it, rather be grateful for the rental apartment you have. If you are running short on bills, then instead of lamenting upon it be grateful for the fact that you have a job and at the end of the month you’ll be able to pay the bills. If you don’t have a job then be grateful for a supporting family and friends circle who will help you get back on your feet. The list goes on, the point I want to make is that there is always something you can be grateful for even in the most adverse situations. Therefore, nourish your mind with the spirit of gratefulness and you’ll progress leaps and bounds towards a positive mindset.

Change The Surroundings

If despite everything, you aren’t able to think positive and look at the bright or another side of the picture, then perhaps it’s time you change your surroundings. The place you live in, the people around you, the colleagues, friend’s circle, the movies you watch, the kind of music you listen to all affect your mind. Therefore, whenever you don’t see light at the end of the tunnel, it is time that you step back a little and change your route. Going deep into the tunnel with no vision might not turn out the way you think. Hence, to change your mindset you might require a break from your current place and go someplace where you can find serenity and get a better picture in your mind.

Now it’s Your Turn!

    Nice post Nate 🙂

I couldn’t agree more, a positive mindset is a must. And yes belief is another big part of the success equation. To me, belief also leads to motivation and taking action. Hard to do what you need to if you don’t believe.

As for gratitude, I made my own blank list, just a simple PDF, printed out an needed. On it I list everything I am grateful for. The plan was to do it every day, but that has not happened yet 🙂

  2. Hey Nate,

Having a positive mentality is a way to keep your mind open for opportunities to grow. Whether it’s personal growth or business growth, this is what needs to be focused on.

One thing i like that you mentioned is being grateful for what you have. This is do to having an open mind. It provides personal balance. Yes there may be some challenges, but you want to look on the other side of the coin in order to be balance. It will neutralize yourself so that you can be able to adjust to the expected and unexpected.

Also you want to be committed to your mindset. You want to keep feeding the things that’s going to keep you focus, letting ideas come in so that you can go ahead and execute them. They said Thomas Edison failed 10.000 times before perfecting the light bulb. can you imagine that? It shows how determined and confident he was. Imagine if we all have that mentality!

    Thanks for sharing!

    Good advice, as always Nate!
First, having an “attitude of gratitude” is critical, and if people spend the effort to work on this, they will be shocked at the change in their lives!
Second, change surroundings. It’s easy to get into a place of can’t see the forest for the trees. I find that even a few minutes away from the computer and house can have amazing effects in unlocking my creativity! Most blog topics I think of are while driving!

  16. Hi Nate,

You hit the nail on the head with this one! We really cannot accomplish much without a positive mindset. Yes, the economy is fragile right now, but there is always something we can do.

When it comes to business, our mindset is so important. Even if we are just writing a blog post and are not in a positive state of mind, people will see through that!

When it comes to marketing, it can be a huge challenge. But keeping that mindset of ours healthy is important.

I like your suggestion of commitment. It is the only way we can improve our mindset. I too have committed to this. If I find myself straying, I have many techniques I use up my sleeve to get me back on track.

Also changing surroundings is a great idea! I have actually moved because of the negativity around me. I live in a peaceful place now whereby I can really focus and take walks on the beach!
