How To Be A Bad Ass – Live And Build A Life That Matters

In order to achieve true success in life, you need to have a good balance of life and business. Sadly, many people may slip in one or both areas. A life where you’re working 18 hours a day and never seeing family can impact your relationships. Likewise, if you’re spending 18 hours a day caring for family and not on your business, your profits are going to suffer.

The key to successful entrepreneurship is to get what you want out of life but to have the freedom to do so without others dictating what you must do. Yes, it is possible to be a badass and live and build a life that FUCKING matters.

A Better Life Begins with Change

Many people are interested in changing their lives. Someone once said, “You drove yourself here, now it’s up to you to drive yourself out”. In other words, you’re an adult and you’re responsible for your choices and decisions—no one else is. And in fact, if someone else was actually responsible for telling you what to do 24/7, you’d likely be living in the old era of slavery, which is completely illegal now.

So, you’re in control of your own life, just like countless others. The difference is that you have a spark in you that is ready for change, while countless others go along with the flock. Hey, it may take you three years, but it will be worth it!

One of the best ways to remain in control of your own life is to start a business. Obviously you don’t have the cash for a $40,000 down payment on a local franchise, so, instead, you’ll focus on entrepreneurship. Most likely this will be some form of online business.

Your dream business may involve you looking after your best three online clients while you lay on the beach sipping a pina colada. It may involve something different, as each person is different. You may even want to add that you want to get in shape, or move abroad, or spend more time with your family.

Here are 8 badass ways to help you achieve your life goals. Let’s shake things up a bit and get started.

1. Who cares what people think of you?

Think about the badasses you know, and the celebrity badasses on TV. They don’t sit in the corner and cry, they simply let criticism fall off them. They don’t care what others say about them.

Many people may have a hard time accepting this concept. Aren’t rating systems everywhere? We Like something, Follow them, and give a rating of 1 to 5 stars. It seems like every aspect of the internet has some form of the feedback rating system. Now take a step back—this is for businesses, not you.

Remember that people will always have opinions, it’s what makes us human. There are billions of people in the world. There is no time to worry about any of them. It doesn’t even matter what you do. You can do your best to influence people, but they may still not change.

So, why can it be a concern to worry about what others think of you? Because it can stop you from doing things! This can even go back to high school when you had to think about a career choice. Likely you were interested in being an artist or a writer, but your parents told you to “pick a career that actually earns you money”.

You may even have asked the advice of friends or family about a new business venture, and been struck down. People seem to be naturally negative.

Now it’s time to think about how you don’t care what anyone thinks! If you want to do something, then do it! Do you want to be that person who works towards their goals, rather than waiting?

2. Your best investment is yourself.

Many people complete high school or college and then think they’re done. but it’s important to carry on learning throughout life. It doesn’t have to involve two more years in college, but there are other ways to learn too, which will better fit with your lifestyle. It is possible to achieve new goals.

Now it’s time to turn off the TV and put aside the gossip magazines, the newspapers, and social media. Visit the library, or search through Amazon to find books that can teach you how to do things. You can even get audiobooks that can help to make your daily commute seem shorter. And it’s been proven that listening to words and advice can be more readily absorbed than reading that same book.

Remember that it’s important to invest in yourself first. Find materials that will help you to grow as a person, and help you to achieve that big goal.

3. Choose your influencers.

Now that you’ve tuned out all those people in your life who offer opinions that you don’t like, you can focus on influencers instead. Often many people think about making changes and wonder how to get started. One of the best ways is to think about what specifically influences the world.

If you’re focusing on being an entrepreneur and starting your own business, then you’re going to have to tune out that negative talk about how bad the economy is, and how strong the US dollar is, or not.

Remember that your subconscious will listen to everything you tell it, but it’s up to you to decide if you want that to be true or not. Remember that other people thrive in this type of economy, so there are positive aspects to it.

Find positive sources to influence you, whether it’s the Entrepreneur magazine that tells you about great success stories, or reading books by the strongest business influencers today. It’s up to you choose only positive influencers, and tune everyone else out.

4. Don’t let fear control your actions.

Everyone experiences fear at some point in their lives. But don’t let it hold you back. Fear is for those dangerous situations so that we have an early warning system to run from dangerous situations in the wilderness. But fear should not control our business lives.

The best piece of advice you can receive is to take action despite fear. And if you’re waiting for the fear to go away, then don’t, because of it likely never will. It’s perfectly normal to feel fear when trying new experiences. But instead of letting it stop you, instead, it can energize and make you excited for what the future has to bring.

Next time you want to do something to help make your business grow, remember that it’s natural to feel uncomfortable. But instead of letting it hold you back, you’ll let it push you out of your comfort zone. This can only be a positive thing.

5. Start a spiritual practice.

Whether you are religious or not, you can benefit from a spiritual practice that can help you to meditate and focus on the tasks ahead. There are many different practices to try. Some involve chanting phrases, while others involve saying the same word over and over again in your head. Sometimes it doesn’t even matter what it is, as long as it can clear your mind of thoughts.

If you need some ideas, consider a gentle yoga workout, or one of the many meditation practices. There is also a Buddhist practice called Zazen, it’s not exactly meditation but a slightly different method of a meditative discipline. Try them one at a time to see what is suitable for you. They’re best practiced once in the morning, and once in the evening.

The goal of good spiritual practice is to help build up confidence and set negative thoughts aside. It can help to decrease stress and anxiety, which may be additional factors that are holding you back in life.

6. Let go of your past.

Everyone has had more than their share of painful past experiences. This is just a part of life. You can dwell on them for a short length of time, then move on. This is all a part of being a human being.

There is an old Buddhist quote that says, “Resentment is like holding a hot coal and expecting the other person’s hand to get burned”.

In other words, there’s no point in holding resentment, as it does nothing to affect the other party, and all it does is wear you down and hold you back. There will always be someone out there who does better than you, or who has more than you. Instead, they can be your influencer instead of your enemy.

Resentment can weigh you down and is something that you shouldn’t carry around. If you’re stuck as to how to let it go, be willing and open to enlightenment, and soon the answers will come to you.

7. Stop boasting, start doing.

Many people love to boast about what they can do because others have done it. They believe they can do it too, but they don’t begin. Instead of starting on even one-minute goal as the first step, they find excuses. They sit and watch TV or waste time on social media.

This valuable piece of advice involves you actually starting to do it. If you need help getting started, begin by making a list of things you are doing that is not working toward your goal. For instance, too much time on social media, or watching TV, or wasting time.

One of the ways people get stuck in life is to constantly talk about it but to do nothing to begin. You should know that if you truly want to change your life and achieve that big goal, that you will need to become that person that actually takes that big action.

Now you can talk about the big actions that you have done, instead of bragging about how someone else has already done it.

8. Listen to what the doers have to say.

When trying to influence yourself to change, you have to carefully adapt in your circle of friends and colleagues. It can be a downer to listen to a broke friend who wants to tell you how to make more money or grow your business, while your spouse says you can’t “spend that on marketing”.

Most of the time you’ll receive advice from people who not only aren’t qualified to give it but have never even attempted anything similar in their own lives. You’re going to need to tune out their opinions (see tip number 1. above.), and only listen to people who have done what you’d like to do.

You’ll want to seek out people who not only have the life that you want, but that has also achieved success in a similar path to the one you are taking yourself.

Just where can you find these people? You can find them everywhere. Reach out to business owners you know in real life, or colleagues online. You can also join local MeetUp business groups where you can learn from others and network together. You can do a search on the net and find successful people. If they have books or classes, take them.

Successful people’s first-hand knowledge is worth more than its fair share of its weight in gold. They’ve already gone through what you’re going through—getting started and checking off each goal that has been accomplished, to celebrate that first big success—selling that premium product or acquiring that supportive client.

Now Get Going & Be That Bad Ass!

Work your way carefully through these steps. You won’t be able to accomplish it all in one day. You may wish to do step one the first day, then step two the second day, etc. Write one small goal in your calendar to accomplish each day that will take you one step closer to success.

It’s Your Turn!

I think in general that one of the most powerful ways to change your life in any area and in any way, shape, or form… Is to continually be aware of and except change. And to move forward with change. Quite often people are so afraid and try to stay away from it, from fear alone.
Moving past this fear and accepting change, will help anyone momentously move forward.
    Great post my friend!

I like how you broke down ways to spend your time online and how much time to spend. Thank you for this.

It is definitely important not to listen to others if they’re encouraging you to go the safe route. I say go with your gut route. Seems like we’re pre-wired to succeed if we give our efforts to the areas that interest us most.
