It is a topic of debate whether success in any walk of life is a matter of chance or sheer talent and hard work. Regardless of whatever opinion you have in this regard, every one of us agrees on the fact that hard and smart work can help increase the chances of success. No one hits a jackpot without the effort of making an investment. Therefore, regardless of how lucky you may be, you need to strive a little to achieve success.
If there is something that all successful entrepreneurs will tell us, it is the fact that you have to develop skills and adapt to certain principles if you want to make your way through to your destination of success, especially if you are a business-oriented person looking to establish your business. Below I will share the top five success traits that every entrepreneur should have.

Be Prepared
Opportunity seldom knocks twice on the door; therefore, it is imperative that you are ready to greet it whenever it knocks at your door. If you plan to start your own business, then the thing you need to do is to keep on preparing for it, and whenever you see a little opening, it would be the time to execute your preparation. If you arenโt prepared then the opportunity would come and go and all you will be left with is lamenting on your lack of preparation. Therefore, be prepared in every way possible and when the iron is hot โ hit it with all your strength.
Love What You Do
Steve Jobs said about loving what you do is the only way to do great work. Having an eye on all the possible ventures that can bring huge success is a good thing, but if you wish to run your business in the long run, then you need to find a niche that resonates with your interests and which you love. When you are passionate about your business, the success and the life of all successful people you surround yourself will tell you to stay consistent and you’ll have the success you’ve always wanted.
Take A Start
Most of the people spend ages waiting for a big opportunity while ignoring the fact that all this waiting has cost them time, which ultimately converts into a monetary loss. You donโt need to wait for a time to start jumping when all that while you always had the ability to take small steps. Therefore, it is imperative that you start with whatever little you have, the only bad thing that could happen is you learning from a small mistake instead of committing a big one when you are looking to take strides.
Determination
Determination is perhaps the only factor common among all the successful people and business person in the world, regardless of whether they were lucky or they achieved success with effort. There is no course that runs smooth all the way long, rather ups and downs are a part of every course and without them, a success has no charm. The only way of coping up with hardships is by being determined to the cause. The more determined you are to your cause or objective, the more courage will you find to face all the hardships and increase the chances of success that lies beyond them.

Think Big
The most common approach proposed in all the eBooks on success is that you need to aim for the sky if you wish to reach the rooftop. Therefore, it is imperative that you let your imagination fly high and think as big as you can. Limiting your imagination means limiting the chances of success, hence think as big and broad as you can to increase the chances of success.

Great post, Nate. It’s very important to do what you love, first of all. If your business doesn’t excite you, then you might be in trouble. Determination is definitely a big factor too, especially if you’re thinking really big. Thanks a lot for sharing@

Another great nugget Nate! Unfortunately too many people are sitting around waiting for their ship to come in. I’ve got breaking news. Their ship isn’t coming in. Opportunity requires that we get in the water and swim out to our ship! Yes, the water can be rough! Yes, it’s not easy to swim. Yes, there are creatures (dream stealers) in the water who are trying to steal, kill, and destroy our dreams. Some believe that swimming is a scam. It doesn’t work. But successful entrepreneurs navigate through the rough waters because life on the ship is nice. It’s a 5 star, luxury cruise ship. It’s worth the swim!
Keep swimming to your ship everyone!

You’ve covered some of the key reasons why it takes so long to succeed in any business. I think consistency and discipline are what tie them all together. Once those are in place it’s only a matter of time before the success knocks on your door.
Exactly. Well said Greg!
great tips for success. thanks for sharing.
You’re welcome Amar!
I’ve been preparing over a year to start my own business. But the main thing I need to do right now is get all the negative self-talk out of my head.
My family has been very discouraging because “the economy isn’t right” to start a new business. Blah blah blah. And I have foolishly been listening to them. *sigh*
Hi Angie,
Regardless, you should start a business anyways. Whether you do the business or not, they will still have their false belief that the economy isn’t right. By them telling you not to start, is a way to keep you down because in some form of life, the same thing happened to them. Hope that helps!
Starting is HUGE Nate! Get after it.
Get started now. I started a project recently when I felt really sick; I had to hop in because I was so excited to get going….I knew it was time.
Thanks for sharing!

Awesome Ryan! Thank you for the comments!
Success is something that all of us wish to attain. But if it were so easy, everyone who wanted it would have it โ itโs relative elusiveness is what makes it special. Itโs exclusive to a handful of people who did extraordinary things in their lives to get them to where they are today. And it wasnโt because they were lucky or because it was just handed to them.
That is an awesome way to put it Edgar! Thank you for the comments!
