MLM Tips: Why You Are Responsible For Your Success

MLM, or multilevel marketing, is something of a craze nowadays. Everyone knows what it is, and more and more people are jumping on board. This is for good reason – there’s some serious money in MLM, and there’s some serious freedom, as well. Of course, the money only comes to those who earn it, and freedom is only relevant if you’re making money. As good as it sounds, the fact of the matter is that very few people make huge amounts of money through MLM. This is not because the system doesn’t work, however, but because people often have the wrong ideas going in. For one, they believe that their uplines will do all the work, and make them rich. Let’s look at why you have to let go of this preconceived notion if you want to get anywhere in MLM.

Why-You-Are-Responsible-For-Your-Success

Your Business is You

While this should go without saying, it sometimes doesn’t, so we’ll say it anyway: You’re the only one who cares about your business. Sure, your family is probably emotionally invested, and your partners might even care a little bit. But ultimately, they’re in it for themselves, just like you’re in it for you. Since this is the case, you better bet your upline isn’t doing the work to help make you rich; they’re doing it for themselves, and they’ll use every trick of marketing in the book to make sure they’re the ones who reap most of the benefits from their work. This is only fair, and it also means you can’t rely on them to bring you success. So don’t – that’s not how the business works.

The Income Fades

The further down the ladder you are, the less and fewer trickles down to you. In theory, sales made upstream do contribute to your paycheck. But, in practice, unless hundreds of thousands of sales are being made upstream, chances are good you’re not going to be making anywhere close to hundreds of thousands of dollars. This is where you come in. If you want to make real money, you have to do real work. The big bucks only come when you buckle down and bring them in yourself. Think of your upstream as a boost, not a source – you’re the source.

Why You Are Responsible For Your Success

Long-Term Instability

Even if your upstream did do all the work, and do it well, and provide you with a great income, there’s little chance they’d always do that for you. Thus, in the long-term, you’d be cheating yourself, since you’d be losing all the income that they provided you. This is why you’ve got to do the work yourself if you want to ensure any sort of income stability. You can never count on others to do much of anything, let alone make you money. So get on it yourself – that way, you’ll make big, consistent money.

It’s your turn!

I have tried 2 MLM’s. I didn’t have much success but that is because I lacked what it took. It is very important to do what your upline is doing, see the success they have and follow in their footsteps. Invest in the training and motivational seminars. They are very worth it. Most of all, like you said, DO IT FOR YOU!! (AND set goals, work hard and BELIEVE in your success.)

Yes, you want to be a good copy cat. Don’t try to re-invent the wheel. Once you do follow the blueprints, success has to happen no matter what. Thank you for the comments!

learning from mistakes and keeping improving my skills is what i have learnt in my job to survive competition.

  5. Belief, Belief, Belief. That is what helped me become independent of my Upline. I would record counseling sessions with my Upline, also one on one meetings that he has helped me with. I came to the conclusion that he was not doing anything I could not do for myself. Also, I wanted to work on my own time schedule, not so much of his. Now I use more of his wisdom, then his physical presence. The advice I would have for Newbies, is to observe and learn from their Upline. Get out there, make some mistakes, and try again, all while counseling with your Upline. Awesome post Nate! Glad I met you online buddy! Keep up the good content!

Sounds like you know exactly what you need to do. Most people miss the boat on this one. Why mess with a process that has worked for many people? Just copy, implement and repeat. Thank you for the comments Karl! 🙂

Great advice. The biggest part about this being your business is to properly do your homework and evaluate your chosen MLM as a business.

Too often I find that I (and others) join with a hobby level interest, which fails because hobby + business = false alignment = failure.

    • Nate Leung says:

      Hi Greg,

On top of all that, you still need to take action. All homework and knowledge is useless unless you put it into action. Taking action is the best way to test what you learned. From there you can scale up and grow your business. Thank you for the comments!
