MLM Recruiting: 3 Pitfalls Network Marketers Need To Avoid

MLM recruiting is what most Network Marketers struggle with while starting out? Were you capable of bringing in a handful of people at the beginning, but now it appears near to impossible to get ANYONE to sign up? Not only that but are you now noticing that a percentage of the people you originally recruited have quit?

If you are experiencing any of this, you are not alone. For many years, I struggled at MLM recruiting. I know from talking to many network marketers, they to have run into a challenge with the issue of how to recruit for their MLM business.

Why are so many network marketers having trouble with MLM recruiting for their business? There is a reason why so many people have this kind of trouble. They are being taught MLM recruiting methods that simply do not work well, which can cause a business to end. Here are a few of the “rookie” mistakes that 95% of newbie network marketers make while MLM Recruiting. Learn to avoid these pitfalls, and you will probably avoid things that put over 95% of network marketers out of business:

MLM Recruiting - 3 pitfalls Network Marketers need to avoid.

Limiting Your Lead Pool

What’s the biggest “false start” that network marketers make? It’s following the direction they’re given to use their “warm market” (friends, family, neighbors and co-workers) as the main (or only) lead pool.

If you wish to know perhaps the most important insight I’m able to provide you with on how you can recruit for your MLM business, it is that you want to attract leads who are already looking for what you got. You want people hunting you down looking for more information, instead of the opposite you hunting for prospects.

Your warm market is NOT made up of these people. You don’t ever want to “convince” someone that they want what you have. MLM recruiting for your business is merely to put your message in front of individuals who already are looking for what you’re offering.

If everyone you are attempting to recruit and that person has no interest in what you have, then you will end up with a significant drop-out problem. This will mean that you are wasting time and effort (and MONEY) on people who aren’t going to be long-term members of your organization.

Positioning The Wrong Party

Another one of the “biggies” in terms of MLM Recruiting for your business, is how you position YOURSELF in the eyes of your leads. A huge mistake that new network marketers make would be to position their company (or their upline) as the “expert” in the eyes of their leads.

You never want to do this — you always want to position yourself as a leading authority in your niche, and an expert who has a SOLUTION to a problem or an issue that your prospects have. What this means is that you don’t want to ever lead with your product, your company’s opportunity or with anything about your company in general (like a company replicated website).

You want to put the benefit your product offers — with you as the expert who has this benefit to offer — as the first thing anyone sees from you. This is how you get people hunting YOU instead of you hunting people.

This is how you get people who are already interested in your products or services as your leads. This is how MLM Recruiting for your business in a way that will get you more leads than you can believe — and fewer dropouts than ever before. To discover a complete step-by-step blueprint for MLM Recruiting for your business.

Don't buy leads; generate your own.

Buying All Your Leads

One of the greatest mistakes you possibly can make when it comes to MLM recruiting for your business is to keep spending money and put yourself out of business. This occurs to way too many new network marketers. One of the biggest culprits for this is costly lead lists.

Some network marketers figure that if they buy their leads — and buy the most expensive “real-time” or “fresh” leads — that they will be able to build an instantaneous business. Not the case. An extension to what I talked about in #1, when you want to know how MLM recruiting for your business, you are always better off generating your own leads because you will have no control over who the leads are and how they came into your funnel.

Not only that but if your skillset is not really well-honed, then you could quickly spend lots of money on these leads and put yourself out of business before you are able to ever put yourself into profit.

It’s your turn!

  1. One of the worst MLM pitfalls comes in the very beginning. Most people think that once they started in the MLM business, huge profits and a care-less life will follow in a short time. That is not true, since only with time and hard work you will get to a point when your success and earnings start increasing and also to keep them increasing, you need to work further. Even keeping everything steady, at the same level requires work!

  2. As usual Nate, i keep enjoying the way you dazzle and provide solutions for marketers challenges, i appreciate your effort because you are just too good. Thanks for this wonderful information.

Leaders lead by example and set the pace for others to follow. Sometimes people fall out because the don’t have clear goals and therefore never gain traction or figure out who their target market is.

thanks for always sharing quality, thought provoking content.

  4. The three points of MLM are very good pieces of advice. I really like number 2. This is a big one!

  5. Great post! It’s difficult to develop a top-notch prospect list. I totally agree with your third point especially, and that is to not buy leads under any circumstances. You’re just wasting your time and money. Keep those posts coming!

  6. Hey Nate,

Agree, agree, agree! Been there and done this many times.. Convincing, buying leads, and of course leading with my business and products. I have to second that motion with all that you said because of my experience. You definitely want to be a person of value so that you can attract and generate your own leads of already interested prospects! Great reminder!

I think the biggest pitfall is 5 who get 5 who get 5…

The best way to recruit new members is to focus on your own production. When you start producing recruiting becomes much easier. First focus on you then help your team!

So true what you said about making the mistake of buying expensive fresh leads—many of us had to learn the hard way!

You are right about using up the warm market and eventually running out of friends and family!!!

Nate, you constantly give great value!

  13. Enjoyed the article Nate. It makes sense that you should go out to find people who are looking for what you are offering, rather than trying to convince your warm market to sign up.

    Thanks for sharing.
