With the barrier between countries disappearing rapidly and the means of communication, increasing more than ever, it has become hard for a business to differentiate itself from another business. Everything a business does has already been done by some other business in some other part of the world, however, the strange fact is that still there are entrepreneurs who surface every now and then and who make their business a success.
The reason why most of the entrepreneurial ventures do not achieve success is that they aren’t able to differentiate themselves properly, and secondly, the entrepreneurs aren’t able to spread the idea. Thus, in this world, where people know everything and have the power to ignore everything differentiating and spreading an idea are the two most difficult things that are encountered by entrepreneurs mostly.
Below, I shall be sharing with you how you as an entrepreneur can differentiate your idea and spread it.
In simple words, the only way you will be able to differentiate your idea is by making it remarkable. Although you may have creativity, the thing that matters the most is making your proposal different. Therefore, by thinking out of the box you can make your idea present in a different way, moreover, instead of pitching the idea with its features and benefits to the target audience, the best way to make the idea different is by identifying the needs and wants of the audience and then presenting to them the way the idea is going to fulfill their needs. Thus, to differentiate the idea, you primarily have to think out of the box and then present it in a way that appears problem-solving and not a set of solutions with no aim.
Spreading the Idea:
A different idea is one-half of the success of an entrepreneurial venture, the other half required for success is the spreading of idea. No matter how great or how unique an idea is, if it is not spread properly, it won’t yield the desired benefits, therefore, it is important to not just rely on the uniqueness of the idea, but also work on its spreading as well.
There are two types of mistakes that entrepreneurs make in spreading the idea that causes the idea to flop. If these two mistakes are rectified, then the chances of venture becoming a success increase. The two mistakes are discussed as under:
Using The Wrong Means- The first mistake made by entrepreneurs pertaining to the spread of a unique idea is that they use the wrong means of promoting the idea. Most of the businesses opt for online or TV advertising as a means of spreading the idea and spread heavily in it, but what they fail to realize is that although these means have farther outreach, they have little effectiveness as they don’t have a specific target audience.
Therefore, if the target market of the idea is parents and the ads are run on TV, which busy people don’t have to watch, then all the money spent on spreading the idea is merely a waste of money with little effectiveness. On the other hand, the most reliable means of spreading an idea is People, it has been, it is and it will be the most effective means of spreading an idea as people trust people and people value people and not some random celebrity or animation on the screen. Therefore, the means of spreading the idea should be people.
Targeting The Wrong Audience- The other major reason why entrepreneurial ideas fail is that they are pitched in front of the wrong people. Most entrepreneurs try to pitch their idea to people who are already following some other competitive idea of the same sort, therefore, it becomes easy for them to ignore whatever little uniqueness your idea possess. On the other hand, if you target the people who are adaptive and open to new things and experiences, then no doubt the target market will be limited, but the fact is that there is nothing like an overnight wonder. Those limited people who are willing to listen and adapt are the ones who form a trend and will spread your idea to others, thus by pitching your idea to such a limited audience is what will serve as a foundation for the greater spread and consequent success.
Now it’s Your Turn!
