How To Share Your Ideas With The World

With the barrier between countries disappearing rapidly and the means of communication, increasing more than ever, it has become hard for a business to differentiate itself from another business. Everything a business does has already been done by some other business in some other part of the world, however, the strange fact is that still there are entrepreneurs who surface every now and then and who make their business a success.

The reason why most of the entrepreneurial ventures do not achieve success is that they aren’t able to differentiate themselves properly, and secondly, the entrepreneurs aren’t able to spread the idea. Thus, in this world, where people know everything and have the power to ignore everything differentiating and spreading an idea are the two most difficult things that are encountered by entrepreneurs mostly.

Below, I shall be sharing with you how you as an entrepreneur can differentiate your idea and spread it.

How-to-spread-your-ideas-with-the-world

Differentiating Idea:

In simple words, the only way you will be able to differentiate your idea is by making it remarkable. Although you may have creativity, the thing that matters the most is making your proposal different. Therefore, by thinking out of the box you can make your idea present in a different way, moreover, instead of pitching the idea with its features and benefits to the target audience, the best way to make the idea different is by identifying the needs and wants of the audience and then presenting to them the way the idea is going to fulfill their needs. Thus, to differentiate the idea, you primarily have to think out of the box and then present it in a way that appears problem-solving and not a set of solutions with no aim.

Spreading the Idea:

A different idea is one-half of the success of an entrepreneurial venture, the other half required for success is the spreading of idea. No matter how great or how unique an idea is, if it is not spread properly, it won’t yield the desired benefits, therefore, it is important to not just rely on the uniqueness of the idea, but also work on its spreading as well.

There are two types of mistakes that entrepreneurs make in spreading the idea that causes the idea to flop. If these two mistakes are rectified, then the chances of venture becoming a success increase. The two mistakes are discussed as under:

Using The Wrong Means- The first mistake made by entrepreneurs pertaining to the spread of a unique idea is that they use the wrong means of promoting the idea. Most of the businesses opt for online or TV advertising as a means of spreading the idea and spread heavily in it, but what they fail to realize is that although these means have farther outreach, they have little effectiveness as they don’t have a specific target audience.

Therefore, if the target market of the idea is parents and the ads are run on TV, which busy people don’t have to watch, then all the money spent on spreading the idea is merely a waste of money with little effectiveness. On the other hand, the most reliable means of spreading an idea is People, it has been, it is and it will be the most effective means of spreading an idea as people trust people and people value people and not some random celebrity or animation on the screen. Therefore, the means of spreading the idea should be people.

How to spread your ideas with the world

Targeting The Wrong Audience- The other major reason why entrepreneurial ideas fail is that they are pitched in front of the wrong people. Most entrepreneurs try to pitch their idea to people who are already following some other competitive idea of the same sort, therefore, it becomes easy for them to ignore whatever little uniqueness your idea possess. On the other hand, if you target the people who are adaptive and open to new things and experiences, then no doubt the target market will be limited, but the fact is that there is nothing like an overnight wonder. Those limited people who are willing to listen and adapt are the ones who form a trend and will spread your idea to others, thus by pitching your idea to such a limited audience is what will serve as a foundation for the greater spread and consequent success.

Now it’s Your Turn!

Thanks for the info! I agree that each of these steps are important! I remember in public speaking classes how important it was to have something catchy or different to get people’s attention. It works with many things. Thanks for the interesting post!

  2. While I agree with you that uniqueness of idea can help an idea spread, I think that what is missing is that regular, thoughtful communication is just as valuable.

Sure, not every one of my articles is a new, unique idea in the whole universe of ideas. BUT if it is new and unique to the person reading it then I have fulfilled my goal.

      Hi Kimberly,

Yes, often times we forget that not everyone knows what we know. At the end of the day, it’s not about what you know, but what value you can add to the person who is reading your post. Thank you for the comments!

Very good points here! Knowing your target market is very important, and I agree that many businesses do not drill down enough to really define that audience, and then speak directly to that audience. It’s something I’m working on with my own blog, at the moment. Who am I writing this for? Who do I want to read this?

    • Nate Leung says:

      Hi Beth,

In addition to what you said, once you drill down your target market and you know where they hang out, how they think, you’ll begin to attract more of that type of audience. Thank you for the comments!

I don’t disagree with anything you’ve said. The only thing that I would add is to be sure that you’re connecting to them. Doesn’t matter how much theory you apply, practice is always going to be different than the theory.

    • Nate Leung says:

      Hi Casi,

Yes, connecting and building relationships is also a great way to share your ideas with the world. You bring up a great point. Thanks for sharing!

    Hi Nate!

These are all GREAT examples on how to share your ideas with the world. It’s tough being a little fish in a big sea but with the right strategy and mind-set any business can be successful.

I think customer loyalty is so important and they are your loudest voice. If you don’t have a strong relationship (customer loyalty) with your customers or clients, then you don’t have a sustainable business.

Building customer relationships is easy, and is based primarily around providing quality products or services, being honest, authentic, dependable and a great “communicator,”

One (simple) way to stay in relationship with your customers, is to create a weekly e-mail that provides something of value and something that your customers will look forward to receiving each week.

Its important to stay in contact with your customers to let them know that they matter and that you care for their success, happiness and well-being.

Thank you for another great post today!
    Healthy blessings,
    Gena 🙂

    • Nate Leung says:

      Hi Gena!

Everything is built on relationships like you said. You need to connect and build relationships with your customers.

People often think that owning a business has everything to do with making money. That part I do agree to an extent but, owning a business is being able to take a problem and solve it.

By solving the issues that your customers or clients face, you can then gain customer loyalty and that’s when sustainability is create. Love the points you’ve shared today! Thank you for that Gena!

    Hey Nate,

You make some great points here…

What I most relate to is pitching to the wrong audience.

You MUST know your audience, and know what is best suited for them, prior to promoting your opportunity to the masses.

Being in touch with their needs, there inner most desires for change is a big plus. You must know what drives them to want a better life.

Not targeting the proper audience will cause you to burn a hole in your financial pocket tossing your hard-earned greenbacks and energy towards the tire-kickers and looky-loos, which does you no good.

    Have a Great Day,

    John Engle

    • Nate Leung says:

      Hi John,

You bring up some great points. Targeting the wrong audience can put a dent in your pocket.

I’ve shared this with many of my students and a great example of targeting the wrong people is like trying to sell your best red meat to vegetarians. You can tell the vegetarians why they should buy the meat, but at the end of the day, you can’t say the right thing to the wrong person and you can’t say the wrong thing to the right person.

Appreciate you stopping by and leaving your comments! 🙂

    Hi Nate,

Spread the word to the RIGHT market. Patiently create value and make connections to be an idea virus guy or gal, spreading your knowledge at every turn. This is easy to do when you fall in love with your purpose.

    Thanks!

  8. Good points. I think one addition is being authentic and honest. In today market people want to interact with people they know, like and trust. that can only happen if you are being real.

I completely agree that targeting your market is important. I’d rather have a small audience of my ideal client then a huge audience of random people.

  9. I agree with you that your idea has to be unique, and has to be shown to the right market. I love the image you use of the people bored and asleep! That’s the way I feel when people try to pitch me their multi-level marketing businesses that sound so much like all the others that are out there. People and word of mouth are importannt, but they have to be the right crown. Thanks, Nate.

  10. Vince says:

Great post Nate… Been so busy have not had a chance to read your blog lately and I missed it. Total value as always..

  11. Interesting article as always, i kept reading and reading the last tip and i totally feel the point more than any other. Sometime one may have a great idea but may not know how to communicate it or the medium to spread it but even if you know how to communicate it and have a medium to spread it and yet target the wrong audience then your dream may as well be dead at that point. You must have a will, a medium and the right audience for your ideas to be successfully shared. Thanks for sharing.

  12. Cindy Eidahl says:

Great post. I think sharing is important and even more important
to share it with the right audience that want to hear it.
One way is by doing research.

  13. Amira Muhammad says:

This day in age, it’s so important that we express ourselves freely with the platform that we use. Together we can make things happen!

  14. Nice one here Nate,

Some think they are clever by bringing up unique idea, yea that’s right but the mistake they make is sharing it to the wrong audience. I’ve done this before but it’s a good thing I know the difference between left and right now.

  15. Maggie Owens says:

Thank you for this post. I am still working on finding that right market.

    • Nate Leung says:

Keep working at it till you find something that works. Thank you for the comments!

  16. Krystle says:

I feel a unique idea is one that is described to a ‘T’ so that the recipient understands the person who is delivering it ideas. I feel sometimes when ideas come about the truth behind it is missing at times. Great post!

  17. pam schmidt says:

You have added some specific details that help me get a laser focus on who I target. We hear the generalities, and you brought out the details to consider. Thanks, Nate.

  18. James says:

    Hi Nate,

This is a masterpiece, a business school guide to achieving success and getting out to the world is the acronym I’m giving to this post.

I agree with you on the example you gave on the use of TV ads in reaching out to prospects and customers. It’s indeed a wrong means because it brings about a diluted reach and mostly ends up to non-targeted people.

    Thanks for sharing.

  19. Vicky says:

    Hello,

Blogging is really great business to share our ideas or thoughts easily to the world and i think by blogging one can do lots more.

I think the idea to gonna share should unique and helpful.

  20. Sonya Mann says:

I recently read an excellent book on this topic, simply named Different, by Youngme Moon. It’s an very intriguing critique of today’s marketing practices. I actually think it applies to bloggers as well–I certainly felt inspired.

  21. Nate, the conservative community I live in was not ready for my message and so most of my business became international with a strong Japanese following. After publishing my book I re-focused locally and began teaching free and paid classes. I started a meetup group called Spirituality 101 and found an audience who is ready and I love teaching!

  22. When I started my home based business I was not made aware of “targeting audience”

    • just realized I pressed enter before completing my answer =(

as I was saying. I wasn’t aware there was such a thing as the right audience. I would push my business with the people on my personal facebook page and would get no where and I couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t selling. So i joined facebook groups for people looking stay at home work, and groups for people that knew about the product i was selling. I was able to get a lot of leads that way!

      • Nate Leung says:

That is awesome Marielle! It just shows you make a few different shifts, and things start to happen! Glad to see that you didn’t give up on trying to target the right people!

  23. Lynda Lippin says:

I think it is hard for people to put themselves out there. A Facebook business page or twitter can be good places to start, but a personal blog is really the best way to put yourself out there and create connections.

    • Nate Leung says:

I agree Lynda. It’s your own platform and your own humble abode. I’ve believed that your personal blog is always the hub to start then you can branch out to your social media outlets. Thank you for the comments!

  24. Hi Nate, I think both having the right message and having the right audience is critical for success. If I had to pick the one that’s MOST important, I would say having the right message is most important because without knowing your message, and the transformation you offer to whom, you can talk to the right audience and they may not even recognize they need you!

    • Nate Leung says:

Sure is. The two go together very well. Why make life harder on yourself by speaking the wrong message to the wrong audience? Thank you for the comments!
