MLM Tips: How to Prevent Yourself from Getting Burnt Out in Your Business

There are hundreds of people throughout the United States alone that are making millions of dollars each year through their successful multilevel marketing (MLM) businesses.  Regardless of the specific product or service that is being sold or the name of the company that pays them, the basic principle and foundation of all MLM companies are the same when it comes to the overall business opportunity.  However, one of the biggest problems that even the most successful people that work within this particular industry encounter is that they can burn out quickly.  Even though there are many jobs in which you can burn out and still make a living, multilevel marketing is truly not one of them.  What steps can you take, therefore, to make sure that you never get burnt out in your MLM business?

How to Recruit 100 MLM Reps Per Year

Focus on Recruitment More Than Sales

The quickest way to become burnt out in your MLM business is to place all of your focus on direct sales.  Once you have started to do that, then you are basically eliminating the multilevel part of the MLM system primarily because you are entrapping yourself within that first level. Whether your business is successful or not rests solely on your own efforts and resources.  If you do not make any sales on a specific week, then you are not going to get paid. Therefore, taking a “vacation” (in the traditional sense of the word) will not be possible, because you will always have to work in order to make sure that you keep the money coming in, which can become very exhausting and eventually lead to burning yourself out.

By focusing more on recruitment and building an organization of people, you will be able to use that leverage to relieve yourself of that burden.  It will get you to the point where you will still be getting paid residual income, overrides and bonuses simply by having a working organization even during the days, weeks or months that you do not do even work personally.

Never Forget Your Initial Motivation

There are so many different MLM companies that encourage their team members to always focus on their “Why” statements, which clearly identify why they decided to get involved in the MLM business in the first place.  Money is a great motivator, but it is not strong enough to keep you motivated in this business.  Maybe you wanted to spend more time with your child in a way that a traditional 9-5 job would not allow.  Maybe you wanted to enjoy a better quality of life without having to worry about struggling financially anymore.  Perhaps you were just sick of punching the clock every day and wanted to be your own boss.

By reminding yourself of why you decided to get into the world of MLM in the first place, you will be able to effectively motivate and drive yourself to stay excited and engaged in this business without burning out.  Why? This is because you will realize that you want more than just money from your MLM business – you want freedom.

It is easy to forget, sometimes, when your brain is fried and you forget your why, momentairily . Knowing your why does helps you to get back on track

Motivation and a goal are key to keep in mind!

  4. Sometimes, I take a step back from the business, and just enjoy time with my family. That helps me keep from burning out. When I am spending time with the family, I do not talk about my work. I want to enjoy them and hear about what’s going in their lives when I am not around.

Love the tip on remembering your initial reason for starting out. It gets very easy to get so goal driven with a business, that a person neglects the family members.

    Hi Nate,

Great tips! Recruit like a machine. Allow others to build your fortune for you as your team grows. Sure you will still work but sacrificing time for money by focusing ONLY on direct sales leads to serious burnout. Gotta leverage 😉

    Thanks for sharing!

I learned this one the hard way… if you hate what you are doing, eventually you are going to get burned out. When you feel like you are working a lot, sooner or later you’ll become exhausted and then eventually burned out. When you are working on something that you love and are passionate about, it won’t feel like work. When you enjoy something, you won’t mind putting in the time and effort that is required to make it succeed.

Great post, burn out is such a serious problem. I avoid it or cure it by taking a complete break. For a day or two, however long it takes. The key is to make sure that you get your business sufficlently automated so it doesnt suffer from the odd break as you reset your batteries.

I find truly respect if business hours helps A lot…you cannot be on call 24/7. Celebrate victories! Share your passion. Remember your why. Thanks & great post
