One of the greatest evils that people of today have to battle with, either regularly or occasionally is stress. In every walk of life, because of the pressure of all sorts, people usually stress out and this stress derails all their progress and health. Thus, stress is by far the biggest menace faced by civilizations across the globe.
We consider the ill effects of stress as inevitable or at least this is what most of our doctors and psychologists tell us. Although what they tell us is right but it is not definite. There are several researches going on the effects of stress and the way it can be combated. A few researches have also passed through my eyes, which made me change my belief regarding stress, and now I consider it one of my best friends.
You can turn stress from a monstrous enemy into an ally and trusted friend just by changing the way you think about it. If you train your mind in a way or feed it with such information that makes it believe that stress is helpful, then it would change the response of the body against stress and make the body healthier and stronger. In the lines below I will give you two major examples that can help you change your mind about stress which will eventually make stress your best friend.
The stress symptoms are the most hated symptoms, the major culprit of which is the heart pumping at a higher rate. The general notion is that when your heart starts pumping under stressful situations it means that the heart is under too much pressure and it has become difficult for it to supply blood to the body.
However, if the same condition is to be viewed from a positive mindset, then you will come to know that this fast pumping of heart actually makes the heart strong and increases the supply of oxygen to the brain that then enables it to think in a better way. Thus, if you know that stress is going to help your heart and brain, then you won’t feel the pressure and gloominess of stress that is usually associated with it. Hence, instead of resisting stress and falling prey to its ills, the body will actually appreciate the symptoms which will automatically increase the resilience of body against the stress. Therefore, the next time you experience stress symptoms, think of it as a healthy symptom and your body would respond to it in a healthy way.
Have you ever been in a situation where you are under stress and want someone to support you? Or when under stress you wanted people around you who could share your pain and show you some care? This is because of the oxytocin neuro-hormone and is released by the brain as a response to stress. This hormone is generally known as the ‘cuddling hormone’, thus the feeling of physical contact and social connection that you experience when under stress is because of this hormone. Besides that, this hormone also helps the body where it serves as an anti-inflammatory agent in addition to causing the cells of heart to rejuvenate which had gone dead because of stress. Moreover, the production of this hormone increases rapidly as soon as you interact socially with people especially by helping them out in their problems.
Therefore, in other words, feeling stressed helps you become more social, more caring towards other people and betters the health of the brain. Thus, the next time you are in stress, remember that your body is producing substance that can help you become better, and this feeling of become better will serve as the healthy response to stress.
Thus, both Oxytocin and the stress symptoms are what make stress your best friend and can help you turn this malignant enemy into your best friend.
