5 Reasons Why You Should Pay It Forward

There is a reason why all the civilized and wise people encourage and propagate the act of paying it forward. The reason behind it is that apparently it seems like an act of self-sacrifice or going against one’s own benefit, however, it actually is much more than that and it is an act of well being of the whole society. Therefore, because of its holistic implications, wise people recommend paying it forward.

Although for a person with an eye of understanding for things or for someone who has been through it, the idea of paying it forward does not require any introduction or advocating. However, there are others who are skeptical about it and want reasons for this action. Today, I’ll be sharing with you the five major reasons why you should pay it forward.

5 Reasons Why You Should Pay it Foward

We All Want Better:

If for a moment, we all think at a broader level and about this world, then we all would come to the conclusion that we all want the same thing and that is a better world for us and for our families to come. We all want peace in the world, clean water for our families to drink, a pollution-free environment, a loving society, all these are the basic need of people. Therefore, when a person pays it forward he or she actually thinks of the bigger picture instead of him or herself and thus makes the world a better place. Hence, if you wish the world to be better then you should pay it forward.

The Focus Goes On Others:

As mentioned earlier, paying it forward means putting your focus on others and thinking of them in the same way as you do for yourself if not better. When you focus on others your thought pattern changes and instead of focus why what and how something is better for you, you start placing others in your place and see how your act of random kindness would make the life of other people better. This feeling of doing better for others has no replacement or alternate, therefore, paying it forward changes your focus and causes you to think of others, which is what the world needs now.

Giving is Better Than Receiving:

Another major reason why you should focus on paying it forward is the fact that doing so makes you the giver and the other person the taker. We all know that giving is better than taking, however, when you spend something from your loved things, you get a totally different kind of feeling which you won’t have even if someone gives you an expensive car or you win some lottery. Therefore, when you pay it forward, you actually experience how it feels to give someone something instead of taking something from someone.

Mutually Shared Joy:

Another major reason why you should pay it forward is the fact that the joy it brings is mutually shared. It is understandable that you feel joy when you pay it forward by giving someone what they want by placing them in front of yourself, however, this joy is also experienced by the receivers of your kindness as well, although in a different way. The joy you feel by giving something to a total stranger, the stranger also feels joy because he thinks he is valued and honored by some stranger. Therefore, to make the joy of it shared by more and more people you need to pay it forward.

Hope:

Above all, the biggest reason why you should pay it forward is that keeps the flame of hope burning in people. In the world of today, people have lost trust in people and have no hope for the future whatsoever. On the other hand, people who commit random acts of kindness represent the fact that still there are good people on earth who think of other people before their own selves, want to good for others, and don’t want recognition and so on. Thus, until this ripple of kindness kips ongoing in this world, there is still hope for a better and brighter future for the world.

Now it’s Your Turn!

I definitely believe in paying it forward. It’s better to help those to succeed and then in return your blessings will come. I love it!

Now I do Completely understand it Nate, Why Should I Pay it forward to others (Y)

  3. What a great post. I live the term ‘play it forward’, although I’ve never heard it before. Random acts of kindness. That I relate to. My novels feature this in a different way. The heroine has visions where she helps people in difficulty. I hope the novels give the reader that same joy you’ve demonstrated so aptly. I guess, ‘play it forward’ is a modern term for ‘love they neighbor’.

Blessed is the hand that gives than the one that takes. Kindness is always rewarded. Just that thank you and the smile on the other person’s face are enough.

    Well put Nate!

In my opinion, giving back should be a natural act for us humans, but I also need to live in reality too.

Many humans need to work harder at getting out of their “it’s all about me” mode and flip it around for the better… maybe the Random Acts of Kindness that you mentioned could be a good place to start for some.

Just think about how much better the world would be if everybody practiced this!

    Thank You,

    John Engle

  9. Great message Nate! I try living with an attitude of gratitude. Knowing that the blessings I have in my life aren’t all because of or about me makes paying it forward and doing ‘random acts of kindness’ easy.

  10. I love random acts of kindness! They are my favorite! I’m someone who gets an enormous amount of pleasure from giving back, paying it forward, however you want to say it. 😀 The only thing I ever ask from those I have helped is that some day, when they see someone else that they can help, they do it. 🙂 If we all adopted this attitude, wouldn’t the world be even more amazing than it already is??

This is 1 reason why I love cash gifting Nate. The concept is based entirely on paying it forward. Any home business – from MLM on across the board – is SO much more enjoyable when you pay it forward.

Awesome list of reasons brother. Thanks!

The other day, I was in line at starbucks and the lady in front of me was short in money. I didn’t give her change but instead I gave her money for her coffee.

  14. Michelle says:

I know it makes me feel better when I do something nice for someone. The big one for me is when someone is waiting to get out of a parking lot and no one is letting that person go. I try my best to always let a person out so they aren’t sitting there forever. I know how they feel because everyone is always in such a hurry and they don’t think of others when driving.

  21. YES, YES, YES…

Though not a gambling man, I’ll see your five reasons and raise you one.

It is written in the greatest book of all that we should “do unto others as we would have them do unto us”. This so-called ‘Golden Rule’ is repeated by the likes of Andrew Carnegie, Napoleon Hill, Wallace Wattles – all of whom changed countless millions of lives for the better.

And, it is not written – “do unto other as they have already done to you” – hence it is without doubt a “pay it forward” command.

What we give away freely we get to keep a thousand times over. Keyword ‘FREELY’

THANK You, Thank YOU, THANK YOU

  22. You are right Nate. We all want a better I agree with this and I only tell you about the third point that I am also connected in the group in my city named Joy of Giving. It’s feel wesome when you give something to other which is not very useful to you but it means a lot for that person.
