Building your email list is a very important process when it comes to email marketing. It not only helps gain new leads and it also allows you to acquire new contacts that you can use for your promotions and grow a huge consumer base. We all know that emails play a vital role in the internet marketing space. An e-mail list allows us to communicate with our subscribers and the people who are attracted to us as Internet Network Marketers. So, let’s talk about the 5 practical ways of gaining a subscriber base for list building.
1. Use E-mail Signatures
The first list building strategy that you should utilize to capture your visitor’s information is to have a capture page link at the end of your email signature. This is important because every person who sends you an email is a potential subscriber of your updates. Some will see the link, while some won’t. You just never know who will click on the link opt-in to your capture page.
2. Add an opt-in form on your website
Outside of adding email signatures to help you list build, you should also add an opt-in form on your website. I would recommend putting it somewhere on a site that you own or control. A good example would be a blog. Offer them an incentive such as a free eBook, ‘How-to’ video, or a service that they can try out for 30 days. Naturally, people who visit your site will customers will not just sign up, so you have to induce them to sign up. Basically what you’re doing is giving them something of value for free in exchange for their information. A great way of enumerating your subscribers is to let them know that these are the benefits they will receive once they become a subscriber.
3. Request Fans to Sign Up via Social Media
If you are active on the social media networks, I would recommend sharing your information with your fans and let them know that you’re giving away a free eBook or training. As part of your social media marketing, you should have an embedded sign up form on your Facebook fan page. This will help increase your subscription base.
4. Share Links and Post Open Loops in Social Media
On top of adding sign up forms to your social media pages, you should also syndicate your latest posts or newsletter on your other social media outlets, such as Twitter, Google +, Linkedin.com. This will also increase traffic to your website since Google loves to see organic traffic coming from social media.
5. Add Your E-mail Contact to Your Business Card
Every time you attend a business event, expo, or seminar, you should carry a few business cards for network marketing. The reason is that seminars, training sessions, and business events are fertile grounds for meeting potential prospects for list building. Some of the people that you will meet may want to contact you or keep in touch with you. So, if you carry your business cards, you stand a greater chance of getting people that will contact and engage you for a lifetime. Just make sure that your email contact is clear and valid.
What’s the First Step?
I would highly suggest that you get started by using Aweber. You can put it up on your website and it’s very easy to put sign up form on it. You can try this service for 30 days for free by clicking here and if you don’t like it you can cancel risk-free. Get your feet wet by setting up an email campaign. But I think you’ll quickly see some awesome results with some of the tips that I laid out for you in this article. Please comment below if you have any questions regarding e-mail list building, I would love to hear them.
Great tips but I love the one about posting open loops on Social media.
I do this in my email and it works a treat but never thought of it on Facebook and the like…
Thanks Nate.
Hi Adam,
I love open loops as well. They work well in TV shows, so if it works for that, then it certainly can work for Internet Marketing. Thanks for the input Adam!
Hi Nate,
I also like to add my email opt-in page to any articles I write as well. Contrary to popular belief, articles can still be a good source for traffic, especially writing guest posts. If I’m trying to give my email list a boost I’ll add my opt-in page to my resource box.
Blessings,
Liz
Hey Liz!
It does help to add an opt-in form on the page. I think any blogger should put one on there. In the end, you’ll get more returning traffic and it helps boost serps as well. Give it a whirl and let me know how it works out! Thanks Liz!
Great post Nate! Building a list is essential for any internet marketer. Your tips are great. Offering something for free in exchange for a lead is a great way to build your list fast and yes, Aweber is wonderful. 🙂
Hi Amisha,
Sure is. One of more important components that no internet marketer should do without. Aweber is great! Thanks for stopping by. 🙂

Fantastic post Nate!! Thank you for sharing these 5 effective ways to build a bigger email list 🙂
Thanks Joan, glad to see you got value!
Really sound points made here, of course getting the best out of your list relies on how well you relate to people on it.
Thanks Luke!
Hi Nate,
What I’ve learned over the years is to just start diving in and prospecting despite your fear of rejection creates courage in you. Courage is a powerful ally. Nobody is fully immune from fear. The network marketing successes of the world embrace the fear and do it anyway, “it” being whatever they fear doing.
In the end, you will never be fearless, despite what people claim, because you will experience fear as long as you are living in a body. However, once you do what you fear doing, many times, the fear generally disappears and is replaced by faith. Then over time you pretty much lose the fear of rejection.
Great article Nate!
Exactly. Thank you for the feedback!
