3 Ways To Overcome Rejection In Your MLM business

Most new network marketers need to learn how to overcome rejection. Network Marketing can be one of the most exciting, fun and rewarding businesses out there.  Behind every successful Network Marketer, there were struggles and failures. They will face certain challenges while growing their Network Marketing business. Even today’s top income earners face rejection and get shot down.

Here are three ways to overcome rejection in your MLM business:

1.  Family and friends.

Most new Network Marketers are so excited about their new venture. They want to tell the whole world about their new opportunity will help the world. Unfortunately, it’s the people closest to you, friends and family, who do not exactly see it the same way you do. They are skeptical. They want to make sure you are safe.

It is oftentimes misunderstood and looked at as rejection. Chances are, you have experienced this in your network marketing career. I have some good news for you. You are not alone. It’s not your fault. In most cases, it comes down to lack of training before you approach your warm market.

The best way to approach your warm market is to let them be aware of what you are doing. Kind of like if you got a new job, and that you are positioning yourself to be successful.  Send them some samples or some information on the product.

Ask them if they know anyone that is open to a side project. Even if it didn’t interfere with their current schedule.   If they come across anyone who is looking for a side project, have them put you in touch with them. This is the best way to avoid rejection. Also, turn potential adversaries into allies.

2.  Do not take rejection personally.

People that you are going to share the opportunity with may have a timing issue. The timing isn’t right in those people’s lives.  If they tell you “no”. What they are saying is, “Not right now”.

Your job is to invite people and ask them to take a look at your opportunity. This is one of the first ways you can overcome rejection in your MLM business. Do not get attached to the results. Focus on delivering the information and inviting people to take a look at your business. Without the need to have a specific result of them joining you.

If you are finding this to be a challenge from progressing forward in your MLM business. Here is a tip that could help you out. One that I learned a while ago, and continue to use today to overcome rejection in my MLM business.

There are millions of people in the world to talk to. Do not get attached to the end result. Instead, focus on delivering the information. Also, inviting people to take a look at your business opportunity. All without the need to have a specific result of them joining you. You need to learn how to have an abundance mentality. If you set the proper expectations in your mind… you will overcome rejection in your MLM business, at any given time!

Try to get 50 “no’s” in a day and see what happens.  If you are going out and building a business, it’s almost impossible to get 50 no’s.  The question you have to ask yourself.  If you exposed your opportunity to 50 people, and 49 said no, and 1 said yes, would that be worth it to you?

Jim Rohn, once said that if you do something often enough a ratio will begin to appear.  If you talk to 10 people and 1 says yes, a ratio will begin to appear; you are at 1:10.  You’ll notice that once it starts, it tends to continue.   If you talk to 10 you’ll get 1.  Talk to 10 more, get 1.  This is an awesome way to overcome rejection in your MLM business.

3.  Turn rejection into positive motivation.

Learning to manage your feelings is critical when dealing with rejection. Especially to your self-worth, and your self-esteem. When you feel the pain of rejection, you need to know how to turn the feelings of rejection into a positive. Use this as motivation towards success.

To manage your emotions, you must understand what triggers your emotions. You should feel, experience, and express feelings which are both desirable and undesirable. Sort your feelings and turn them into productive allies so that they work for you not against you.  It’s generally a good idea to write down goals, and understand why you are doing this business.

Define and develop your ‘why’. Use this as motivation to build your business. If your ‘why’ is strong enough, you will be able to persevere and overcome rejection in your MLM business.

I hope these 3 tips helped you when it comes to overcoming rejection. I wanted to share my experience with you. This way you have a better idea on how to deal with them and the emotions that come with them.

You feel a lot of rejection when you are getting started. It’s so important to stay positive, focused, and learn from every no.

      Hey Andrea,

Yes, having an abundant mindset is also important to have. When you know there’s 8 billion people on the planet, there’s always more people to talk to. 😉

      Hey Edwin!

Thanks for stopping by, it’s always nice to see a new visitor.

Rejection isn’t something that most people like to face. It’s one of the major reasons why it holds people back from building a successful business. Years ago, I realized that when people “rejected” me, I figured out most of the time, that it’s either one of few things.

      1) Timing issue – Not be the right time in their life
      2) They don’t understand the value behind in owning a legitimate business opportunity.

Glad to have you here on my site, hope to see you again soon. Have a great week ahead. 🙂

I really enjoyed your comments about how to handle rejection! In any profession that can be a challenge, but in MLM it is especially challenging. Your idea of creating a ratio to help you monitor results is a great way to look at the process! Thanks for sharing some suggestions that can help and inspire people in the process of building their businesses.

I think rejection from your family is typically the hardest pill to swallow. It’s easy to have a stranger tell you NO and laugh at you, but when it is your brother, father or mother laughing, that is whole other matter. Ultimately, you can let it paralyze you or you can let it motivate you. It comes down to how bad do you want it.

    Great post and great blog.
    Chuck
