What’s The Real Difference Between Network Marketing vs Internet Marketing?

Never before in human history have there been this many opportunities to build your very own business. Before you use to need absolute mountains and mountains of capital, all kinds of specialized in skilled knowledge and expertise, and access to Titans of industry that you could rely on to help guide you through all of the necessary processes – and even then success was anything but guaranteed.

However, today, all of those old barriers to success are all but eliminated entirely. People are literally building their very own businesses with little more than an idea, dream, and Internet connection – creating the kind of multi-global businesses that we simply never could have imagined just a few short years ago.

But when it comes to making money online, the two real major “realms” of business fall into these distinct categories – network marketing and Internet marketing. And though they share much in common, the truth of the matter is that they are two completely and different types of businesses relying on completely different business models and will require completely different approaches to succeed.

Hopefully will be able to provide you with the inside information you’re looking for to choose the right business model for yourself.

What is network marketing?

Network Marketing is the distribution of products and services through a network of independent representatives.  Each representative is responsible to consume  a small amount of products.  And recruit others to do the same. Sales volume is generated through a lot of people each month buying and selling a small amount of products. Commissions are paid based on training new distributors and consumption of the products and services within the network.  A company offering a product or service can eliminate the need for expensive advertising campaigns. By deploying a network of distributors and also get paid for sharing products they love with others through word of mouth. Network Marketing is getting paid over and over for working one time.  Passive income and royalty income that comes in month after month.

What’s the real difference between Network Marketing vs Internet MarketingWhat is Internet marketing?

Internet marketing in and of itself is simply using the Internet (maybe the world’s greatest invention – at least and thus far) to instantly communicate with hundreds of millions of hot prospects with the click of a button. The Internet has absolutely blown down all of the old barriers to commerce, allowing you to create a business from scratch with free or almost free tools, technologies, and strategies that you simply would not have had access to otherwise.

Internet businesses are almost exclusively run and operated on the Internet (big shocker there), but that doesn’t mean that you cannot implement specific parts and components of network marketing into your Internet marketing business – or vice versa. In fact, the best business model may be blending these two specific strategies into one another (taking the best of both worlds, if you will) and creating a completely new model – dominating your market and industry almost right off the bat.

While it’s impossible to say which strategy will work for your specific situation, the important thing to realize is that both of these models have proven effective. Best of luck, and may you enjoy endless profits!

Now it’s your turn!

      Hello Nate.
I liked yr article. When people in certain countries hear the word Network marketing most do associate it with Pyramid schemes, scams etc. I have observed that when you tell them that you are an online marketer and or an Internet marketer they look at you differently and show some interest to know more of what you are into.

Sorry. I used to enjoy networking marketing but the challenge has always been after building my team before I know what is going on my team members will join another opportunity leaving me alone. But since I discovered the internet marketing especially revshare companies where referrals are not compulsory I now prefer it to network marketing. In network marketing referrals are compulsory.

      Hey Nate,

I am definitely an Internet marketer. That said, relationships built on trust and friendship are an integral part of this so I cannot say I am NOT a network marketer either.

      Great post man.

      Hi Adam,

Whether you are in Network Marketing, Internet Marketing, a side business of some sort, the relationships and trust in business never change. For that all rules apply. Thank you for the comments!

It’s important to note the differences between internet and network marketing. At the very least, a person has to know which type of business they would like to run. I’m a big fan of internet marketing!

I used to be in network marketing. Now, I am doing internet marketing. I think internet marketing is best for me now. I liked network marketing but at the time I didn’t have the capital to keep it going. I also like with affiliate marketing you can join the programs for free. Whereas with network marketing you had to enter into a autoship program for the products you were selling.

Great info Nate! I think it’s important in this day and age to try a balance of each – online and offline marketing. Like you point out, they are two different strategies. However, you can reach twice as many people (or more) when marketing your business both ways.

On another note, I used to have a dog that would smile like that. She was a Chesapeake Bay Retriever. She’d smile and sneeze because wrinkling up her nose like that would make her sneeze. She was a sweetie. Her name was Blue Bell (my uncle’s dog really, whose last name is Bell).

      Hello Stefani,

Yes it’s very important to have balance online and offline. If you focus on one area more than the other, then one will suffer. So there’s always different strategies for marketing and you just have to figure out what suites you best.

I had a Golden Retriever years ago, and she used to wrinkle her nose like the one above as well. :-)
