Internet Marketing Tips: What Is The Real Truth About Lead Generation?

There may not be anything more important in the Internet marketing world and learning how to properly master lead generation.

Without a list of red hot prospects come pass customers, and possible clients, you’re never going to be able to take advantage of all that the Internet has to offer. At the same time, you need to understand and recognize that all other Internet marketers are going to be trying to boost their lead generation efforts as well – creating one of the most competitive business environments in human history.

Luckily, with the inside information, tips, and tactics provided below you should have no trouble whatsoever unlocking all that lead generation has to offer.

Let’s dive right in!

Lead generation is all about the numbers game

Lead generation (and much of Internet marketing, to be honest) is about the numbers – and little else. Sure, you’re going to need to make sure that you fully understand exactly who your prospects are, what your market is looking to achieve, and where their pain and pressure points are, but all of that doesn’t amount to a hill of beans unless you can make the numbers work.

Even floods of untargeted traffic push to a lead generation page can build a business given enough time and resources. However, if you’re able to get your numbers down cold (understanding exactly how much traffic you need to push to generate a specific amount of prospects), you’re able to go about the entire process much more efficiently.

What Is The Real Truth About Lead Generation

Creating jaw-dropping “bait”

The best way to get leads online is to offer absolutely jaw-dropping “bait” in exchange for their contact information. However, to get people to “raise their hands” and really cut out all of the clutter, noise, and confusion in a marketplace you need to go above and beyond what you’re probably offering.

Free reports are all well and good, but the truth of the matter is that the best way to explode your lead generation efforts (and plump up your Internet marketing list dramatically) is to actually offer stuff you would have charged big money for completely and totally for free.

This is going to change the expectations of your marketplace dramatically, but at the same time it’s going to establish you as someone of influence – and someone to pay attention to. If you’re giving away your very best stuff to generate a list, not only are you going to have thousands and thousands of people flocking to your lead generation offers – which are also going to set up the expectation that your paid content is even better.

All in all, lead generation should be relatively simple and straightforward, especially if you pay close attention to the information provided above. Obviously, businesses much more complex than the relatively easy steps we’ve outlined in this article – but it doesn’t have to become a headache and hassle at the same time.

Lead generation is all about what you can offer your prospects and marketplace in exchange for their valuable customer information. However, at the same time, understand that you’re not just getting contact information in exchange for your lead generation piece – you’re buying a potential customer and that has enormous amounts of backend the value.

Now it’s your turn!

Hi Nate, the way I view generating leads is very easy, I can pay for Twitter followers and Facebook likes, buy leads on a pay-per-lead basis that are being sold to all my competitors, pick up business cards at trade shows, etc. etc. All of these will generate lots of leads and will be very cheap. And if the marketers are measuring the success of these, only how much they cost and how many they generate, how will they know whether to continue with them.

    Hi Nate:

Generating the best MLM leads is both a skill and an art that can be learned. One of the important factors to remember is that you are talking to real people. It’s not about you. It’s about them. Find out their feelings, their goals and wants. Then provide a solution. Build a relationship and then a partnership. The fact is most people don’t care about your company, pay plan, etc. They care about finding a solution to their problem. Great stuff Nate!

I appreciate your info, Nate! Leads are what we are here to get!

  6. Hey Nate,

I definitely agree with you that lead generation is a numbers game. to be even more effective you want to know who to market to so you can get the most optins and sales as possible. You definitely want to go above and beyond what’s expected. This makes you standout as a leader and you will definitely reap the rewards from it.

    Great one Nate!

      Hi Sherman,

Yes, go far beyond what is the norm. Get past that and you will separate yourself from everyone else. Thanks for the comments!

  7. Hi Nate,

    Great points!

A domino effect occurs in the lead generation game. A type of momentum play. A few people opt in. Then more. Then as you work diligently each day and push yourself to create valuable content and meet more people and make more impacts your traffic explodes.

Then, more people want in. More people sign up. The momentum builds.

The key point which I am glad you noted is this; your giveaway must be sensational. You must goad people into offering their contact information by making an irresistible offering. Do this and you are golden.

Thanks for the powerful share Nate!

    Hey Nate,

The one thing I’ve been taught throughout this entire process is that you need to give away the goods. As I speak to people on the phone they are amazed by what I share and tell me I should charge for it.

My little secret is that they keep coming back and opting into my list because I do give away the farm. That way when I get ready to promote my own product then I have very eager customers to buy from me. The majority have said they don’t even care what my product is. Gosh I love that.

You are spot on with this message my friend so I hope everyone listens to what you have to say here. It works.

      Hi Adrienne,

Yes we can both agree on that. You have to give away the goods in this sense value. You give away massive value, they will keep coming back for more. Appreciate the feedback Adrienne! 🙂

  9. Hi Nate,

So true. When I was still new online, I remember people selling eBooks that are now given for free.

I’m not talking about the same eBooks of course, I’m talking about same or even better value type of content that was sold back then is now given for free. People give great stuff nowadays.

Giving value is indeed the best thing to do to generate leads.

    • Nate Leung says:

      Hi Sylviane,

Yes giving value in exchange for value is how business should be done on the internet. You give away a free ebook in exchange for their email. Build trust, give value, and they will keep coming back for more! Thank you for the feedback!

  10. Sue Price says:

    HI Nate

We all heard from day one the money is in the list. I agree a give away that we would normally charge for is what does it these days.

I have changed my optin several times and still really need to do a better one.

Thanks for a timely reminder 🙂

Great article and I love your writing style Nate.

    • Nate Leung says:

      Hello Sue,

Yes, our work is never done. We always come up with ideas, put it out there, analyze, and scale up. We’re always tweaking stuff to make things better with out opt-ins. Thank you for comments!

  11. Great article! So true about giving away content that is worthwhile. So many people are giving away free things with no real substance to it, full of fluff. Keep in mind it is not really free to you leads if they are spending there time and giving you your contact details, like Nate said make it worth it for them.

    • Nate Leung says:

      Hi Chuck,

Yes you are right. Fluff and no substance. It’s unfortunate that a lot of stuff you see out there is garbage. That’s why whatever you put out there is what you get in return. Appreciate the comments Chuck!

Great post! Offer value and get lots of traffic!

  13. Jason Cabral says:

Great post, I am still relatively new to MLM, about a year in. As far as lead generation goes, what are the best tools to use to accomplish it most effectively? I see a lot of MLM offers about blogging, also from sales, to use Lead generator companies like sales genie, have you found results with these? Which do you use, that offers the best results?

    • Nate Leung says:

      Hi Jason,

Welcome to the Network Marketing club! It all depends on your budget and your goals. There are various ways of marketing and it’s easy to spend a lot of money if you don’t know exactly what you’re doing.

You just have to figure out what resonates with you. In terms of blogging, it’s a good start to build your brand and also to gain a presence and have a greater out reach outside of your local market place.

I’ve have not personally used sales genie so I don’t have the answer to that. If you want more detailed information, feel free to stop by my contact page and contact me that way.
